It’s back to WWII and the battle of Midway as the sequel to 1942 takes off into action!
As from the previous campaign, the action takes place from above. Dogfighting, dodging lead and airborne acrobatics are still paramount as the mighty Japanese naval power must be thwarted. The dynamic remains the same, a simple shooter with much more weaponry and challenges available.
Launching from your aircraft carrier, it is indeed your mission to end the war from the skies. Flying high above the myriad of Japanese island fortresses, wave upon wave of enemy fighters come thick and fast to shoot you down and put an end to your efforts.
Utilizing the many skills at your disposal, including the infamous 360 degree roll you are well known for, new weapons have been researched and fitted, giving you the cutting edge in the skies, be it wave generators or extra guns, these new abilities come at a price! Energy, energy or fuel is transfered over to firing the heavy weapons which adds a whole new dimension to the game, utilizing strategy and raw firepower.
If successful in the skies, your mission does not end there, the might of the Japanese imperial navy awaits your presence in the pacific. Avoiding or destroying as many planes as possible, it is then the first encounter ensues. Ships! warships to be precise, and all with their guns trained upon you.
With all your new technology at your fingertips, taking out enemy guns is a must if you are to progress to the battleship or indeed one of the deadly aircraft carriers lurking beyond the fleet.
Refuel! Re-arm! The mission does not end there!
taking to the skies on patrol after patrol, mission upon mission, the enemy is now fully alerted to your presence and throws everything they have at you.
Vast flying fortresses, wings of ace pilots and ever increasing firepower, the onslaught seems to never end. Nor should it!
The battle verges on the balance! Victory or defeat is a fate only you can decide!
A classic sequel to a classic game. It’s chocs away as 1942 rolls into 1943 and the battle must be fought once again to end the conflict.
